“Yes, Joy Is Possible in Trials”
No one ever said life would be easy. Indeed, each one us will face significant trials and even suffering in this life. The attitude we bring to our trials will affect our experience of them more than any other factor. Our passage today shows that joy is possible, even when we face the most difficult kinds of suffering. Wouldn’t we want to face trials with strength, grace, hope, and yes, even with joy? That’s what we will work through in our passage today.
1. Keep Perspective in Trials ()
Suffering is very real and very difficult ()
Suffering is a part of the human experience in a fallen world
Suffering will not last forever ()
2. See Purpose Behind Trials (, )
Suffering is not outside the sovereignty of God ()
Suffering exposes the weaknesses of counterfeit gods ()
Suffering produces new qualities in God’s people (;
)
3. Find Passion Out of Trials ()
Suffering can help us see the love of Jesus more deeply (;
)
Suffering exposes us to new possibilities of joy and glory
Love compels us to suffer along with those who suffer ()
As we endure trials, we must always remember that Jesus suffered through the ultimate trail to bring us life (). Stand amazed that Jesus suffered for you! Stand amazed at His love! If He suffered those trials for you, how much more will He stand with you through your trials right now?
